LB Training Center LLC

Giving back to disadvantaged communities.
We offer a renewable energy curriculum to small business, students, and veterans to facilitate entry into the renewable energy sector.

HISTORY

The LB Training Center was started in 2005 by Leon K. Baptiste, President and CEO of LB Electric Co., LLC. Leon used the relationships developed at NJIT as a student and as a start up on campus within their incubator program to create an inner city and reentry program for disadvantaged individuals. He was able to convince the city of Newark, under the Cory Booker administration, to allow him to employ 30 inner city kids with “on the job training”.

The LB Training Center helps provide education and training in solar technologies educating college students and teaching skills to disadvantaged individuals (inner city residents and reentries) enabling them to qualify for jobs in the solar industry. This program gives inner city kids the opportunity to learn in real time and helps provide LB Electric with a highly-skilled and loyal workforce.

One employee, a former gang member, said he was so proud to wear his work uniform, he would walk through his neighborhood during off hours in his gear and would actually sleep in his uniform because it made him feel good. It was the first time this individual felt productive outside of the streets.

About LB Training Center

LB Training Center was birthed by Leon and Dena Baptiste February 2009 due to their passion to give back to disadvantaged communities by offering a renewable energy curriculum that would prepare students, re-entries, and veterans for entry level employment in the renewable energy sector.
In alliance with Newark, NJ’s One Stop platform, the youth program was extremely rewarding as they watched students with limited aspirations, part of gang societies, and/or uninformed, change their trajectory by renewing their minds with direction and hope to pursue a career with confidence. Unfortunately, the youth program discontinued due to the lack of participants from the One Stop program. Despite the circumstances, LB Training consorted with local colleges to instruct their renewable energy program to interested students. They had the opportunity to present their program at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Camden community College and Sussex County colleges located in New Jersey. Moreover, Leon’s engineering expertise and Dena’s passion for the industry, positioned LB Training to guide and encourage the expansion of smaller businesses by giving them more administrative, financial and compliance awareness required for growth.
